Opening Night | Artstate Opening Concert

Lismore Quadrangle
Thursday 7:00pm – 9:30pm

Join us under the stars to celebrate the opening of Artstate Lismore with two very special celebrations.
The evening will start with Djanda Mandi Gingerlah – a very special gathering from Widjubul Custodians and Elders and dances from across the Bundjalung nation and the state of NSW. In the words of Djanda Mandi Gingerlah Director Rhoda Roberts;

“Witness our continuous spirituality as we invite other clans from across the region to Artstate to pay homage to our collective gathering, to a place that is Tuckurimbah now known as Lismore. A time to hear country, to feel the heartbeat of country and celebrate on country.”

Dance clans performing include; Jannawi, Excelsior, Muggerah and Bundjalung groups Nini Nahri-Gali and the Deadly Bunharms.
Following Djanda Mandi Gingerlah will be a 1920’s swing party led by the Northern Rivers Conservatorium’s Youth Jazz Orchestra with Shelly Brown on vocals and performances by Spaghetti Circus acrobats and the Cassettes flash mob. This will be a truly spectacular party not to be missed!
The opening night concert is a free family friendly event.
