Family Fun at Artstate Lismore

17 Nov 2017 /

Artstate Lismore has plenty of events for young and old throughout the Lismore CBD precinct from 30 November – 3 December. Plan your family’s outing and make the best of what the Northern Rivers has to offer!

8 AND UNDER

For those on the younger side, head to the Northern Rivers Conservatorium on Friday and Saturday 9:30am – 10:30am or 12:30-pm – 1:30pm for Roundabout Theatre’s Colours. Children will get to interact with this tale of transformation and metaphor through a series of games and challenges. Their actions drive the story to a celebratory conclusion; restoring the rainbow.

ALL AGES

For children of all ages, head to Bunny Racket at the Lismore Quadrangle. Heavily influenced by the likes of The Ramones, KISS Black Sabbath and The Muppets, Bunny Racket will have you grooving uncontrollably to songs like Never Shake a Rattlesnake.

Families can also head to the Northern Rivers Conservatorium’s Concert Room for a screening of the play Rumpelstiltskin. One of folklore’s great villains comes alive in this deliciously wicked spin on a dark and devilish tale, filmed by ANT Live.

Also don’t forget to jot down the Artstate Opening Night in your diary, where you’ll be able to grab a sausage sizzle, and sit back and enjoy entertainment from dance clans as part of Djanda Mandi Gingerlah, and a 1920s Swing Party with Spaghetti Circus acrobats, the Youth Jazz Orchestra, songstress Shelly Brown and a flash mob courtesy of Cassettes.

TEENS & YOUTH

The Block Party is Lismore’s freshest hip-hop dance event featuring free workshops, dance showcases and open public dance floor cyphers (dance circles) for everyone to showcase their skills on the floor.

Leading hip-hop dance company Elements Collective will be hosting the event and running B’Boy and hip hip workshops from 6:30pm.

Featuring music from Lismore’s Teddy Lewis King and showcases from The Excelsior Boys, Elements Collective, and locals The Deadly Bunhams, the Block Party is set to be an afternoon of fresh beats and funky feet not to be missed – come rock The Block!
