Walcha’s Open Air Gallery

Walcha’s Open Air Gallery consists of quality sculptures and artworks by renowned local, national and international artists. Walcha was once described as ‘the most art-friendly town in Australia’ by reputable art critic for the Sydney Morning Herald, John McDonald. Brochures and trail-maps are available from the Visitors Information Centre which also houses a permanent photographic exhibition of several Open Air Gallery works.

The Makers Shed

A marketplace of unique handmade and independent work by New England artisans-in-business. The Roxy Bingara

The magnificent Roxy Theatre and Museum was built in 1936 by three Greeks and operated as a cinema until its closure in 1958. In 2004, The Roxy was faithfully restored to its original splendour. The Museum holds a collection of artefacts, providing tangible evidence of the era of Greek cafes and cinemas.

Tenterfield Railway Museum

The station was opened in 1886 by Lord Carrington, Governor of NSW and officially named “The Great Northern Terminus”. It was described as being “one of the most extensive and handsome buildings on the Northern Line”. Hillgrove Museum

In 1895 Hillgrove was a vibrant gold mining town with six pubs, four churches and a population of over 3,000. Hillgrove began to decline after 1900 as the mines ceased to be profitable. The museum is housed in the 1896 Hillgrove School building and tells the story of the rise and fall of this once busy place providing a unique insight into everyday life in old Hillgrove.

Black Gully Printmakers

Black Gully Printmakers are a community group of printmakers hosted in the Museum of Printing at NERAM.

Our members will demonstrate a range of printmaking techniques such as linocut, letterpress and etching, and show you around the FT Wimble Collection, that includes printing presses, linotype machines, wooden type and much more.

Australian Railway Monument and Rail Journeys Museum
